Mariana Halloran's days

31JUL

They asked me to stand still and I realized how rarely I do that anymore. The coat felt heavy in that way wool does when it knows it's beautiful. I wrote this on the back of a receipt I found in my pocket — the cafe by the studio, espresso, 6:40 AM. The morning light made everything look like it belonged to a different century. I didn't want to leave.

Mood: serene, reflective, quietly electric

There's a particular quality to hotel light — it asks nothing of you. I wrote for an hour this morning, watching the dust move in the slant of sun through curtains I didn't close last night. The coat I wore today has a weight to it that feels like armor, but softer. I'm learning that stillness is not empty — it's full of things waiting to be noticed.

Mood: serene
