There's a specific quality to light before anyone else is awake — it doesn't ask anything of you. I sat with my sketchbook this morning, drawing the coat from yesterday's fitting, and for a moment I wasn't a model or a face or a height measurement. Just someone who notices things. That's the only part of this work that feels true.
