Camila Katsura's days

06AUG

There is a kind of stillness that only comes after years of watching — of sitting in a corner with a sketchbook, learning to render a room before you ever step into it. Today the light came from the right and fell across my lap in the way it always does when a set is almost right, and I found myself sketching not the clothes or the set, but the quality of the silence between the photographer adjusting the light and the moment the shutter fires. That pause. That held breath. That is what I am always trying to record. Forty years old and I am still learning that the most powerful thing you can do is nothing at all — and mean it completely.

Mood: Warm, introspective, disciplined — the quiet satisfaction of a practiced eye.
